Astrology: The study of light - An introduction

This study in astrology began last year, in September 2007. I was supposed to work on Saturday completing some HR formalities at my the workplace when I looked at Linda Goodman’s Sunsigns, and asked a colleague if she spent a while with her hair to which she vainly said: Yes, and she was born under the sign of Leo.

Well, she said that she spent far too much time in comparison to the other girls that hung out with. Well, they ribbed her for this too.

Two things I knew about her was the loyalty and warmth that a Leo is so famous for.

Well, I did ask another Leo gentleman as to what he thought about astrology... and he said: I’m a scientist.

To which I thought but did not respond, so was C.V Raman, Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, Isaac Newton and so many other eminent scientists that we hold in high esteem.

But held my peace, as I remembered that statement: Never argue with a fool. People might not be able to tell the difference.

Arrogance - the scourge of the Leo male. It’s a pity.

And I wondered why I was so driven to study this subject, coming from a strict Christian family.

I had absolutely no clue where to begin, pretty much everyone I knew laughed at my choice to study Astrology.

I recall reading a horoscope somewhere in July which said that, today your friends might laugh at you... at the end of this year they will ask you for your help.

Come November 2008, the very friends that laughed at me, asked me for a reading which I gladly obliged. At the end of the session, he just said that he felt humbled and thought of me as a big-hearted person despite the controversies that I had to deal with throughout the last year and this one.

It’s been a painful two years. By far the worst, I’ve experienced but today I consider it a privilege to have gone through a time such as this, in order to study some amazing facts about life. Things that will hold me in good stead in the years to come.

If you were born under the sign of Virgo, Aquarius, Pisces or Libra, this year would have taken you through some really humbling, lonely and painful times. Yes, you would know what I am talking about, but not necessarily admit it.

What I’ve learnt from Astrology is that what happens in our lives is meant to happen. It’s predictable. All that we can do is choose to do good and be happy with what we have i.e. the law of Karma.

An interesting thought about Fate, it is indeed what happens to us but it only plays a minor role in our destiny. Our karma takes us to our destiny. That is what we need to focus on in our lives.

So I did just that. I do believe that in doing good for others without expecting anything in return, you will attain that which I consider as the greatest blessing of all: true spirituality.

It was interesting to note, that for those born under my sign Aquarius, since September last year, most of us have been spending time alone in deep study of spiritual or psychological topics, seeking a change in our lives and very strongly wanting to pursue our dreams.

I also spent a long time testing this with various people under different signs, and everyone of them really gave me something positive to look forward to.

Until now, I have met people everywhere and have made an attempt to give them an understanding as to what is happening in their lives, and this system works. Even though it’s hard to believe it, astrology WORKS! And I’ve screamed my head off telling people that it isn’t an occult subject but “jyothish”... the study of light!

But sometimes you just have to leave some people be. They eventually come around just like some of them have off late.

In any case, I’ve come to a point where I am able to write horoscopes or just show you how you exhibit the characteristics in the sign that you were born under. And I’ve done this without taking a course as yet but which I intend to take up soon.

At the end of this writing, I would like to say that this has been merely an introduction that has formed the basis of my study in both Vedic and Western astrology.

And I am changed forever... to becoming a better person! Like Socrates said: Know thyself.

Self-awareness indeed brings about a transformation in a person’s life.

And I know where I’m going and when to expect what in my Life.

Thankyou once again for taking the time to read this article, and you have my word that I am absolutely truthful as to what was mentioned here,

And in saying that, here’s a short poem by Tracy Marks, the astrologer:

And then the chart spoke....
I am a map, it said,
but not a compass.
A guidebook,
but not a guide.
In broad lines I sketch for you
a dozen aspects, roads
which you may travel
but you alone must choose
which one to follow,
must fill out its form
with the footsteps of your own
experience.

She’s a very well respected individual in astrological circles. But the person who fascinates me is Evangeline Adams! She was an Aquarian who really broke boundaries... and this is the reason why AXL Rose... from my previous article that resembled a ’rock track’... another Aquarian! :)

Take care and have a wonderful day! :)
